If you're new to internet marketing, you probably don't have a huge budget to splurge on targeted website traffic. Also if you're not an expert on PPC or Google AdWords, you could lose your war chest overnight. Still you have this dilemma that you need targeted traffic to keep your website alive. There are a lot tips and tricks to get traffic to your website. However most of these techniques only produce "tire kickers" and "looky lou's." If you want to sell your products you will need buyers and not lookers! Internet Gurus call this targeted traffic. Here are two tips to get you started.
1. Always offer free giveaways.
In this down economy most internet shoppers are wise and cheap. One of the most successful techniques I have used to get free targeted traffic is to offer free reports. A free report could be based on anything you have knowledge on or something that relates to your targeted keyword. Also a free report only has to be 5 to 10 pages long, you can also go to places like "warrior forum" and have someone write one for you cheap. By giving away free content, you are building a relationship between you and your website visitor. Let's be honest, people love free information. If your visitor likes your report they are more than likely going to spread the news about your website, this will drive free targeted traffic to your site.
2. Social media can send obscene amounts of free traffic to your site.
Social Media can also provide your website with free targeted traffic. If you have been in internet marketing for any length of time, you may have heard that places like Twitter can supply you with free traffic. Now this is true, however people have been using twitter incorrectly. You cannot tweet once a day and expect your website to explode with new readers. I know a lot of you guys maybe thinking, "well I don't have time to tweet 10 times a day." This is not a problem. There are free alternatives like "Hootsuite." Hootsuite is a free program that allows you to schedule your tweets in advance. Also Hoosuite will allow you to run a RSS feed from your website, so whenever you add new content it will be automatically tweeted to your twitter account. Also another good suggestion when using twitter is before you tweet your message, add this to your tweet (#your keyword), this hash mark will drive highly targeted traffic to your website guaranteed.
Another cool social media spot is Digg. Digg is a book marking website that can drive obscene amounts of free targeted traffic to your website. Digg is free to join, just head over and open up a free account. When you add new content to your website, bookmark it with Digg and you should notice a jump in your traffic.
